Things are Looking Different
One of the things about a crisis is that we have to react somehow - indifferent, worried, scared, hopeful or anything in between. For many of us, the early months of being safe at home has stretched out into an unknown timeline or perhaps having to go back to work and worrying. We are a bit uneasy with going to Mass, school, faith formation, weddings, funerals, and even the dentist. It's wearing on us. You might be wondering where your usual excitement is over programs and ministries starting up again in the fall. It has been tampered with for sure. We are so worried on so many levels about safety, good information, and what the future might hold that we haven't felt the same jolt of anticipation and joy. If this is you, please don't worry. God knows our hearts, our fears, and our hopes. He is offering us something special in this time. It's up to us to find out what it is!
Is it the gift of time to get to know your children, youth and families better? Or time to write notes, make phone calls, create new projects and opportunities?
Is it the freedom to let go of what wasn't really working as you had hoped and try to build something that will touch hearts and bring people closer to Jesus?
Is it the possibility that parents as primary catechists is coming true and we need to find all sorts of creative ways to support, encourage, affirm, and equip them?
Is it time for prayer - just for you and your team to really focus on the needs of your community and pray intentionally for renewal and grace?
Is it time to assess everything in your ministry, from the spaces to the volunteers, the curriculum to the methods used?
Is the opportunity to include and invite more people in meet the needs of your children, youth, young adults and families?
Is it time to really put accompaniment, mentorship and relationship building into full speed
Whatever you discern - just know that it is gift. Say it until you believe it! Let God lead the way - it will be filled with beauty, abundance and joy!
Peace,
Jane
